Sharm el Sheikh

For the first time Sharm el Sheikh is marked 1762 on sea maps. Here in 1967 the Egyptian president "Nasser" at that time of wet blocked the street of Tiran and with it the entrance of Israel to the Red Sea. This released the 6 day war in whose course Israel took the Sinai half island. According to the peace treaty of 1982 between Israel and Egypt Sharm El-Scheikh was returned to Egypt again. Earlier Sharm El-Scheikh was a small fishing village. By the tourism it experienced in the 1990s a big impetus. Pioneer Rolf Schmidt von Sinaidivers or Camel boss Hesham Gabr, have already discovered in the early 80th Sharm El-Scheikh as one of the nicest diving districts. Today completely on the tourism straightened is valid as the bathing resort most expensive by far in Egypt. This lies not least with the ideal water sport possibilities which the warm and very clear water of the Red Sea offers. Especially among divers and snorklers the whole area (with the national park Ras Mohammed) is known as the best area for these sports worldwide. Beside the big, international hotels and very good restaurants a golf course was even also put on. In the north of the town situated Naama Bay is the small Egyptian "Las Vegas". Here they feel cosmopolitan and free from any political doctrine. Not free of charge the international political élite meets exactly here. For many years this is for fundamentalist groupings mostly an occasion enough to order stop to this western reprehensibility „“. One hardly sees veiled women here. Here there is everything what is not seen in close surroundings with pleasure: Hard rock cafe, Mc Donalds, Starbucks, Outdoor-Cartbahn, Nightclubs and several official casinos.
